To Where?

She asked,

“To where, Love, can you lead me?

Can it be someplace new—

where cherries bloom ‘neath starry skies,

and all my dreams come true?

To where, Love, can you lead me?

Can it be someplace far—

where not a man has yet set foot;

yes, someplace very far?

To where, Love, can you lead me?

Can it be someplace fun—

where dolphins play so free and gay,

not minding what will come?”

So, she asked again and again

To where she can be led.

Until such time Love turned to her,

She found him far ahead:

“Oh, all this time I’ve been behind

just following your lead!

If all those times I only found

the courage to believe,

We could have trod the road as one;

to where, I’d not have cared.

As long as we’d reach there as one,

with you I would have dared.”
