Stolen Simple Joys

Around the table we gathered
Silly jokes we laughed together

Sang our merry hearts clear and loud
Played childhood games ’til we sweat out

Shared hopes and dreams in bluest skies
Listened to woes and deepest cries

World’s luring treat made them to end
Crushed memories now hard to mend

Gone are they in broken pieces
Blown away, the wind caresses

Cheerful voices turned to silence
Once they were real; now, in pretense

Eyes and hands nailed in touch and taps
Never minding the empty, sad gaps

Chit-chats, laughter, and random noise
These are my stolen simple joys.
